  1. Corrections by the authors

It has been brought to our attention that there are a few typos in the text:

    1. In the Introduction section on page 1, the sentence "...overexpression of a single Clb (e.g. Clb1 [22] or Clb6 [23]) can rescue the lethality of a clb1,2,3,4,5,6¿ mutant" is incorrect.
The correct sentence is: "...overexpression of a single Clb (either Clb1, Clb2, Clb3 or Clb4 [22,23]) can rescue the lethality of a clb1,2,3,4,5,6¿ mutant.

    2. In Figure 2, Bud2 and Bud5 have accidentally been switched. Accordingly, on page 8 the sentence "The next step in bud selection is recruitment of Bud2 by the landmark proteins, both in haploid and in diploid cells. Bud2 is an exchange factor for the small Ras-like GTPase Bud1/Rsr1 (Rap1 in mammalian cells), and recruitment of Bud2 results in local activation of Bud1" should read: "The next step in bud selection is recruitment of Bud5 by the landmark proteins, both in haploid and in diploid cells. Bud5 is an exchange factor for the small Ras-like GTPase Bud1/Rsr1 (Rap1 in mammalian cells), and recruitment of Bud5 results in local activation of Bud1."

We apologize for the confusion and would like to thank Drs. Mart Loog and Hay-Oak Park for kindly bringing these issues to our attention.

It has been brought to our attention that there are a few typos in this review:

    - p8, line 4, 5, 7: "Bud2" should be "Bud5".
    - p9, inside Figure 2: "Bud2" and "Bud5" should be exchanged with each other.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
